Product Design Showcase

Engineers and designers may have their differences but that doesn’t mean engineers don’t value and recognize good design. A regular feature on the website, Engineering.com – www.engineering.com – is The Product Design Show featuring video stories on products such as the KOR One hydration vessel and the open architecture RKS electric guitar, both developed by Los Angeles-based RKS Design.

The KOR One story is the subject of the video titled, Designing Emotion into New Products available at: http://www.engineering.com

The story behind the RKS guitar is told in the video, Rock your Concept Design with Psycho Aesthetic Approach available at: http://www.engineering.com

Predictable Magic

Ravi Sawhney, founder and president-CEO of RKS Design, has teamed with Deepa Prahalad to write Predictable Magic, a book which explores the use of Psycho-Aesthetics to achieve success through design. The design strategy has been the subject of a Harvard Business School Case Study and is at the core of the success RKS has enjoyed over the past 30 years. “We teach our designers that it’s not how you feel about the designer experience,” says Sawhney. “It’s how it makes one feel about themselves. Design is not what we do; design is a tool.”

Thirst For Giving

Consistent with its mission to “celebrate and protect water”, KOR Water has added three new colors to its line of hydration vessels. And through its new Thirst for Giving™ program, KOR Water will donate one percent of annual sales to four nonprofit organizations focused on water-related issues: Ocean Protection (Ice Blue); Watershed Protection (Sawgrass Green); Container Recycling (Sunrise Orange); and Global Water Crisis (Orchid Pink).
