When it comes to branding, few designers can match Yves Béhar, founder of the San Francisco-based design firm, fuseproject.
Nicknamed “Brand Man” by the magazine, BusinessWeek, Béhar lives up to his reputation with the development of the Y Water™ bottle created for a development drink for kids.
Speaking at a luncheon Oct. 19, 2007, at the Connecting ’07 World Design Congress in San Francisco, Béhar says, “I was looking for something special.”
And the Y Water™ bottle is, indeed, special. Not only is the Y shaped bottle iconic and the ambassador Béhar wanted it to be, it’s also a Lego-type toy after the beverage has been consumed. “It’s crucial that kids realize packaging is not something you throw away,” says Thomas Arndt, president of Y Water. “Reusing is superior to recycling.”
Béhar and Arndt tell the Y Water™ packaging story in this entertaining dialogue with Gaylon White of the Eastman Innovation Lab.
