Tom Dixon's unique brand of alchemy started with scrap metal and a lot of attitude. The metal obsession may have diminished but the bespoke aesthetic remains. The migration of Habitat's creative director into the realm of plastics, notably in the form of his extendable modular screens and Fresh Fat Plastic™ line, relies on Eastman's Provista™ copolymer.
Using equipment designed in-house, Dixon takes spaghetti-type extrusions of plastic and, while still warm, twists and shapes them into distinctive forms –bowls, chairs, and some genuinely charming tables. Every item is unique; every item is fascinating.
